This band came recommended by a friend, and needless to say I was not disappointed. Intimate and soaring at the same time, "You Broke My Heart" is the kind of miniature anthem you might hear in an old, dust-filled church hall on a Sunday afternoon somewhere, someone banging away on a well-worn upright piano while singer Becky Stark hits every note with a devotional kind of conviction...

Even more impressive, they've been able to hone this completely sincere, innocent sound in Los Angeles, of all places. This month (October) they play free Mondays at the Echo (except the 10th)...

Their EP, The Cavalry of Light, can be purchased on their website.
