Tall Grass Captains of Greater Chicago

Her Love Has Time Defied | mp3

World Exploding | mp3

Queen of a Million Blinking Eyes | mp3

Seems like these guys (or mainly this guy, also known as Mark Mattson) have been getting a fair amount of kudos online in the past few months, so I'm just doing my part here, adding one more nod in agreement with the consensus.

You gotta love a band that actually improves your vocabulary - from "World Exploding" we have this verse (lyrics from the TGCOGC website):

Well I stayed up late tonight
And I watched the world exploding
And through the coruscating light
In the flares that split the sky
I watched your name unfolding

Yes, that's right, coruscating - not corrugated, corroborating, or correlating. From Merriam-Webster online, we find the following information:

Main Entry: cor·us·cate
Pronunciation: 'kor-&-"skAt, 'kär-
Function: intransitive verb
Inflected Form(s): -cat·ed; -cat·ing
Etymology: Latin coruscatus, past participle of coruscare to flash
1 : to give off or reflect light in bright beams or flashes : SPARKLE
2 : to be brilliant or showy in technique or style

What a great word. Thank you, Mr. Mattson, for your etymological prowess and, more importantly, for your beautiful music.
