Hard-Fi
In keeping with today's theme, started by the previous post, of the great fun we all have working for and exchanging currency, here's the latest electro-rock-dance thing from the UK.
Cash Machine | mp3
Hard-Fi gives us a solid narrative arc here, which is always a good thing in my book, with a tone reminiscent of some of the better Faint songs. What would appear to be a simple lament about working for the man turns into a full-blown domestic crisis/deadbeat dad scenario. Nic Harcourt gave this one a spin the other day, so I think it's safe to assume these guys will be blowing up fairly soon. Apparently Stars of CCTV is nominated for the UK's Mercury Prize as Album of the Year, so I guess they're already pretty huge over there.
Buy Stars of CCTV from amazon.
